Development

POLICY STATEMENT

VAMW Care consider themselves to be a learning organisation but want to develop the learning culture to ensure everyone feels able to continue to develop and nurture their skills, knowledge and working practice throughout their career.

VAMW Care’s Learning and Development Policy sets out what we will do to provide learning and development opportunities which will help everyone to acquire the skills, knowledge and ability to do their jobs effectively, meet organisational and statutory objectives and achieve individual growth.

VAMW relies on the skills, knowledge and commitment of its employees to provide the type and level of care and assistance needed and preferred by the people we support at times which suit that person. This commitment helps us to assist people in reaching their potential and by this we mean that the individuals we support are provided with the opportunity to live a rich, happy and fulfilled lifestyle of their choice.

Our learning and development framework plays an important part of fostering the organisations culture which enables staff to equip themselves with the necessary knowledge, skills and working practice to help people achieve not only the requirements which will meet the needs of the focus people we support, but qualifications recognised by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), and those which support the employees personal development needs.

This Learning and Development Policy outlines the level of support which can be provided by VAMW Care for study related to qualifications and learning and development opportunities provided within the organisation and the procedures in relation to this support.

Through our Learning and Development Policy we will provide employees with learning opportunities which:

  • Will enable employees to gain qualifications appropriate to their role as set out by the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)
  • Ensure employees have the knowledge to develop the skills required to carry out their job effectively
  • Provide help to access qualifications that will recognise employees current skills and encourage individuals to develop new skills
  • Offer an investment in employee learning and development that has value in and beyond the organisation
  • Assist career progression within VAMW Care and foster staff retention through continuous development of opportunities for employees

Our Learning and Development Policy is based around our Virtuous Learning Circle shown below, you can download a copy of the full version of the policy by clikcing here.
